Gr8 to see that your distro is only 16MB. Dear frnd actually i am also trying to create my custom linux distro which shld include CENT OS 4 kernel , basic utilities & commands , Apache , PHP , MySQL , FTP , DNS. targeted my distro size 100MB.

Pls suggest me the steps to create my distro with the packages above.

  2. I suggest you do a lot of reading on how linux actually works. Things like the from power up to bash howto should give you a good ideaof system startup. Linux From Scratch (LFS), was great in helping me understand the internals of a linux system.

As for Apache, PHP, MySQL, and BIND, the utilities themselves arent that large. The biggest problem in squeezing a functional linux system is to reduce the size of the lib you are using ( a complete glibc takes ~145MB of space). Other things to keep an eye on are package dependancies. if you want to keep the size down, you should always look for alternate packages (like using dropbear instead of openssh for example).

There’s a lot of details involved. Its not as easy as it sounds when you think about it.
